Why Is It So Expensive?

SURPRISINGLY 52% OF NEW CAR BUYERS WILL HAPPILY SPEND $15,000 EXTRA ON THEIR NEW CAR PURCHASE THAN WHAT THEY WOULD NEED TO GET FROM A to B. THEY WILL SPEND THIS EXTRA $15,000 EVERY 4 or 5 YEARS WHEN THEY PURCHASE A NEW CAR. THE EXTRA $15,000 BUYS THEM MAYBE LEATHER SEATS, NICE PINSTRIPING, EXTRA CUPHOLDERS, A LITTLE LARGER ENGINE AND OTHER SUCH EXTRAS THAT DO NOT GET THEM A LOT FASTER FROM A to B.

These same people ask why the ROM is so expensive. This ROM machine gets you from A to B in 4 minutes flat (never more than exactly 4 minutes per day). So a "trip" that would take people normally from fat and out of shape to fit and in shape in several months of 60 minutes per day will take only 4 minutes per day. Obviously the vast majority of people do not take that 60 minute per day boring exercise trip. They say that they don't have the time or any other such excuse (they do however sit down on the couch and watch more than 60 minutes per day of television). The fact is that people just do not have the discipline to do 60 minutes of boring exercise per day and the ones that have already lost a lot of their health from lack of exercise just do not have the energy and endurance to do 60 minutes of exercise per day. Others that never have exercised in the past 10 years have lost so much muscle that they just do not have the strength to exercise for 60 minutes per day. Many of these people ask why the ROM is so expensive and a few will take a leap of faith and rent the ROM for 30 days to make absolute certain that this 4 minute per day wonder is not a big old hoax. They all have figured out for themselves that the ROM (if it would deliver as advertised) would be the absolute least expensive way to do exercise despite its high price. An amazing 97% of the people that rent the ROM for 30 days, buy it at the end of the 30 day trial. The rental costs them nothing at all, because the full rental deposit applies to the purchase price.

So the question here should not be "Why is it so expensive?" but "What is it worth to you to get into good shape and good health and stay that way with only 4 minutes per day of ROM-exercise?" All the people that have bought a ROM machine since 1990 did think that their health and fitness were worth the price of a ROM." All the people that did not think that their health was worth the price of a ROM machine have not bought a ROM machine but millions of them have spent several times or at least $15,000 on extras when they bought their new cars. Many also have spent a lot of money on exercise equipment and health club memberships. The ROM will last several lifetimes and you need not buy a new one every 4 to 5 years. It even comes with a 5 plus 5 year parts warranty (total 10 years).

IF YOU DO THE MATH YOU FIND OUT QUICKLY THAT THE ROM IS THE ABSOLUTE LEAST EXPENSIVE EXERCISE, EVEN THOUGH THE MACHINE COSTS AS MUCH AS A SMALL CAR.

The ROM at $14,615 is less expensive per workout than any of the following:
a treadmill, free weights, a 30 minute walk outside, a visit to any health club, a workout with free weights at home, an aerobics class, you name it. Nothing is less expensive than a 4 minute highly effective workout on the ROM.

How can that be?
1. The major dividend, is that a 4 minute complete workout is so very much more do-able than a 45 to 90 minute workout. In fact it is apparently about 11 times more do-able than conventional methods of exercise. Only 8% of people who own exercise equipment at home will use that equipment on a regular basis. A very comprehensive survey, of people who have owned ROM machines for more than one year, reveals that between 85% and 90% use their ROM machines to full advantage. This also means however that between 10% and 15% of the ROM owners have apparently found an excuse why they cannot even discipline themselves to do a 4 minute per day exercise. That is the reason why we recommend that people rent the ROM for 30 days to find out that they can discipline themselves for at least this 30 day period.

What is extremely important though is that for about 80% of owners the ROM machine means the difference between actually exercising or doing no exercise at all and letting their health go downhill and having to deal with more illness and as a result will have a shorter lifespan. This may sound very dramatic, but for most ROM owners it means the difference between gaining the health benefits from exercise or continnuing to let their strength, flexibility and endurance deteriorate.

A LITTLE MATH TO EXPLAIN ALL THIS
It takes a little math to explain. So pay attention please: If the average owner of a ROM machine is a household of 2 people and those two people can expect to live at least another 30 years, then they will use the ROM at least for 18,000 4 minute uses. This means that the $14,615 ROM divided by 18,000 uses costs 81 cents in terms of money and only 4 minutes cost of time per use. There is absolutely no form of exercise available that is less expensive. In addition there are at least over 120,000 4 minute ROM uses left after the 18,000 uses and all those uses (for next generations to use) are of course totally free of cost except for the 4 minute time investment.

COMMERCIAL USE OF ROM MACHINES
Even though over 90% of ROM machines wind up in private homes, some go to health clubs. We know, from over 12 years of commercial use, that the ROM will last at least 140,000 (and counting) uses without need of repair or overhaul. The monetary cost per use for each of 140,000 uses is less than 11 cents per use and time cost is only 4 minutes. Again, there is absolutely no less expensive exercise available anywhere. For people who buy the ROM at a later age and get fewer than 30 years of use out of the ROM, the cost per use for them is of course higher than 81 cents per use, but even then it is the least expensive and most effective exercise available because the quality of life is higher with exercise. Not to mention how much they will save on all manner of medication they no longer need when they are exercising. The result of the 4 minute ROM exercise equals and often exceeds the result from 60 or 90 minutes of conventional exercise activities people do.

COST OF MAINTENANCE
Cost of maintenance for the ROM is extremely low. Since 1990 we have had fewer than 120 occasions of sending out parts for all the ROM machines out in the field (the ROM comes with a 10 year free parts warranty, even in commercial settings where normal exercise equipment only gets a 90 day warranty). Those 120 parts sent out includes a series of 35 ROM machines that had a fault in the computer power supply (around 1996) where the LED lights burned out after people had the machines for under 2 years. We ship all spare parts at no cost for a period of 10 years. So far we have done that even for ROM machines that are in commercial use and we have experienced very little financial burden from that 10 year free parts warranty.

NOW WHY DOES THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE ROM HAVE TO BE SO HIGH?
The marketing cost is the biggest expense in the ROM:
1. Hundreds of thousands of people see our advertisements.
2. Hundreds of thousands of people totally ignore those ads because they believe that a 4 minute workout is complete nonsense (they are of course totally mistaken).
3. A few of them order our free video or DVD.
4. Only one out of every 50 to 55 people who order a video will take a leap of faith and order a trial rental of 30 days to make sure that the ROM works exactly as advertised.
5. Over 97% of people who rent the ROM for 30 days will purchse it at the end of the 30 day trial rental (full rental applies to the purchase price). And we have no idea why 3 out of a hundred people return the ROM at the end of the 30 day rental. We have tried to find out the reasons. Some realize at the end of the 30 day rental period that it does not fit into their budget.

EXPERTS KILL A LOT OF ROM SALES
When finally some people are seriously interested in renting or buying a ROM machine and they have no problem with the price, they would still want to make certain that they are not making a big mistake and they would like to have the advice from an “EXPERT” such as a personal trainer or a doctor. Not to anyone’s surprise these “EXPERTS” will immediately declare that there is no such thing as a 4 minute workout. These "experts" reason that, if there were such a thing as a 4 minute workout, that they would certainly know about it, in fact they think that the whole World would know about it. Such is the circle reasoning of most experts in all fields of knowledge. Experts kill a lot of ROM sales. That leads to lower number of sales, leading to higher manufacturing and sales cost. Experts are http://www.guardiansofthestatusquo.com/ in all fields of expertise.

OVER 10 YEARS OF KEEPING THE ROM ALIVE WITH MONTHLY SUBSIDIES
In the first 10.5 years of manufacturing and marketing the ROM we made nothing but losses. I had to subsidize the ROM project with money from our other family business ( http://www.nordicsauna.com/ ) and a person has to be very stubborn to keep doing anything for 10.5 years while making no wages and on top of that having to subsidize it. Without my stubbornness there would not even be a ROM today. Since the beginning of the year 2001 we finally started making a profit because with ever more ROM machines out in the field the referral sales keep growing. It will still take a long time to recover all the money invested and to pay for the many years of making not even wages from the ROM project. Some “very smart” people have several solutions to the marketing problem of the ROM. They say that lowering the price of the ROM would make the ROM more affordable to many more people and create more sales which in turn would make the manufacturing cost lower. This is another example of circle reasoning. Read below.

CIRCLE REASONING OF EXPERTS
Experts are the guardians of the status-quo because they do the following circle reasoning: “If this new insight were true, we would certainly know about it because we are experts, but because we do not know about this new insight it must be false”. As an added strong argument, some of the “experts” may say that if you don’t want to take their word for it, they will gladly give you a list of other experts that will tell you the same thing. Columbus had that same “expert” problem when he tried to raise money for his expedition on, what he thought to be, a different route to India. The problem was that most people at his time still believed that the Earth was flat even though it had been recognised to be round already a few hundred years B.C.  When Columbus tried to get his expedition funded at the various Royal Houses in Europe these kings might have said: “Columbus, I love to invest in your exciting idea, but let me first check with my Royal Cartographer to see what he thinks about a round Earth". The expert answer was predictable: “King, save your money. Most of my colleagues believe the Earth to be flat. Only a few fringe cartographers tend to believe in rumors about Hipparchus and Ptolomy of Alexandria that proved the Earth to be round.”. It took Columbus 12 years until he finally found the young and inexperienced royal couple of Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain who were willing to throw all caution to the wind and they did not heed the common "expert" advice. They took a leap of faith and were willing to give it a shot. The rest is history. With the ROM it is the same way. People have to give it a shot by taking a leap of faith in the form of renting it for 30 days to try it out to make certain that this is not a big old hoax. The 30 day rental applies 100% to the purchase. And don't you believe that we make any money on the 3% failed rentals where people return the ROM for whatever reason. We actually lose about $1100 on the 3% of ROM machines that people do not purchase at the end of the 30 day trial period (we refund $1000 of the $2500 rental deposit and the $1500 we keep just barely cover shipping in both directions and installation and pick-up by the delivering company. In addition we discount those returned machines $850 and we lose a $185 shipping crate and we have to detail the returned machines. So we are not looking forward to the 3% returned ROM machines but it is part of the cost of doing business. The 97% sales make more than up for the 3% returns.)

CIRCLE REASONING THAT A LOWER PRICE WILL MAKE MORE PROFIT
If there is a ready market for a particular product then lowering of the purchase price will result in the extra number of sales that will actually increase the net profit. If there is no ready market for a product then lowering the price will not results in enough additional sales to improve net profits. Even with accepted products like for example a 747 Boeing airplane dropping the selling price by 50% would not result in the 10 times as many sales needed to make the net profit come to the same as it is currently. If we were to receive an order for 10,000 ROMs from someone with a bank guarantee (a guarantee for $58,000,000 with a 25% deposit with order and payment upon delivery of partial shipments of quantities of 100 or more per delivery f.o.b. factory, crating extra) we would be able to sell that order for about $5800 per ROM machine. An order of 100,000 pieces with the same bank guarantee could result in a price of about $3800 per ROM machine f.o.b. our factory (Of course we would need to get a larger factory facility or get it manufactured in China where quality might be a problem). An order of 100,000 redesigned and lower quality and much less good looking ROM machines made in China could result in as low a price as $2600. So for now, if you want to purchase one ROM machine, you will have to pay $14,615 and larger numbers of sales are subject to the discount/commission schedule as outlined on http://www.quickgym.net/ in the paragraph titled “Sales Commissions”.
