In exercise physiology there are a lot of experts who know a lot of things that ain't so. These are myths that have been firmly established in all fields of expertise (read http://www.guardiansofthestatusquo.com/. Experts in all fields of knowledge will firmly establish the myths and reinforce them and will defend them strongly against anything that would question the validity of those myths. These myths hurt all of us because they prevents us from listening to new insights that could bring us to better and real understanding.
